How to prepare for a concert?

Everything you need for a amazing concert experience
11 February 2025

Are you ready to see your favorite K-pop group live? To enjoy the concert experience, a little preparation is important. And don't panic, we've listed everything for you so you don't have to worry about what to do. So, breathe. Exhale. And let's make sure your concert adventure starts without stress!

How to start your concert experience without rushing

First, check the date and time of the concert. Make sure you know when it starts and how much time it will take to get there. The location around the concert is often busy, so it is useful if you are on time. This way you have a better chance of finding a good spot if the concert is standing. It is also nice to be on time when it comes to seating, so you can easily find the seats.

Ticket panic

Make sure you have easy access to your ticket. Most concerts these days use digital tickets. Then download the tickets in advance in PDF or use an app. You don't want to have to search your phone through for that one ticket email before the entrance. Once you have your ticket and it has been scanned, you are in!

But what should I wear?

K-pop concerts can be long, so wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Think about something light but warm enough when it gets cooler. Layers are a good idea here. Some fans like to wear outfits inspired by music videos of the group they are going to. Whether you go for the iconic outfits of your bias, or choose an outfit that reflects the theme of the group.

Concert bag, customize with your bias

At a K-pop concert, the smaller the bag, the better. Consider a bag that is large enough to hold your essentials (such as your ID, your debit card and yes, your light stick of course). However, most venues have a limit of a maximum of A4. So, if you bring a bag that is too big it can be a problem.

Sometimes concerts require clear bags. You can customize the bag with stickers, pins, keychains or photocards of your bias. Because who wouldn't want the security to see your bag and think: 'This person has good taste!' Transparent bags make it easier for security to check, and it's an opportunity for you to show who is your bias!

Okay, you've now found the right bag, but what do you put in it? Here are a few essentials for your concert bag:

  • ID card & your ticket – Sometimes you need to be able to identify yourself to be sure that your ticket belongs to you, so don't forget your ID.
  • Your Lightstick – Don't forget to bring extra batteries for your lightstick just in case.
  • Cash or your Debit Card – You never know if you can resist that merchandise.
  • Power bank – You don't want your phone to suddenly stop filming when your favorite song comes on, so take a power bank with you so you can charge your phone at any time.

K-pop without a lightstick is just, a bit dark

Anyone who has ever been to a concert understands that the moment you turn on that lightstick, you are surrounded by thousands of other fans and together form one big, colorful ocean of light. It is a moment when you really feel connected to everyone around you and the artists on stage.

If you don't have the lightstick from the concert yet, we have good news for you. Heyhallyu has a large collection of lightsticks. It doesn't matter whether you are a STAY, MOA, MY or from another fandom, at Heyhallyu you can find the lightstick you need. This way you no longer have to stress about that last-minute search at the concert. You already have it in your hands before you go there!

Setlist and Fanchants

To know which song they will play at the concert, you can often find the setlist on Spotify in advance. It is not a problem if you do not know all the songs yet, but this is a good time to practice. And don’t worry, you don’t have to be able to sing along perfectly. It’s all about feeling the vibe and getting completely into the music of your favorite group.

And then there are fanchants. These are short words that fans sing or shout loudly during a performance, usually at specific moments in a song. These chants are a way to show your support for the group and actively participate in the show. They are also a way to bring the band closer to the audience. You can often find videos of fanchants on your group’s official YouTube channel.

STAY hydrated

Eat well before the concert and stay hydrated. For example, bring a bottle of water, but remember that if you are inside the concert, this is not allowed at all locations. So check the rules on the organizer’s website in advance. If that is the case, you can usually still buy something to eat or drink inside the venue.

If you have to wait outside and it is cold, make sure you are warmly dressed. And when the sun is out, don't forget to bring sunscreen.

Remember, the best way to survive a k-pop concert is to just get lost in the music. Enjoy the concert!
